T-Mobile to use Yahoo! Search in Europe

By Kate Crowley

T-Mobile has announced that Google will no longer be its preferred mobile search provider in Europe. Instead, they have chosen Yahoo! oneSearch. It’s designed to make mobile search as simple and effective for its users as possible, returning relevant results and allowing navigation through different categories within results.

No doubt Yahoo! are pleased at this minor victory after the spate of bad press they’ve experienced lately. Google have made it clear that they are interested in developing mobile branded search services, so here’s hoping this setback will encourage them to up their game.

Nookia

By Kate Crowley

Nokia has been playing hard to get for some time, but finally Google has wormed its way beneath that thorny exterior. Nokia will be including Google search on select models (the N96, N78, 6210 and 6220) before expanding it out to more.

It’s nice (and unexpected) to see Nokia compromising its own business ethics to give its customers a better service.

UK iPhone’s Sales Not Promising

By Omio

I’m sure this information is not suprising, the UK iPhone sales have been less than promising for Apple and o2. Apparently Apple have been preventing o2 from releasing sales figures of the iPhone, i wonder why? I’m guessing Apple do not want their product to seem inferior with poor sales figures. Apple did not anticipate the UK’s lack of enthusiasm come launch date with practically empty stores and too many staff with no one to “help”.

The FT have released o2’s sales figures which includes predictions that they would sell 200,000 handsets in the first two months, which was not short of the reality of 190,000 handsets. I’m sure if the other UK networks put their figures together they may find that some of their customers are using the US unlocked handsets. Vodafone have over 8000 iPhone’s registered on their network and that number must be well over this by now.

All hopes of success point towards Apple’s plans for the updated 3G iPhone which, will hopefully address the current failings of the current 2G handset.

Omio Updates

By Omio

Today is Omio’s first official site update announcement! We’ve been working hard over the last few weeks on some great new features.

Compare Phones

I’m really pleased to announce “compare phones“. It’s a feature that we have wanted for a while and lots of you have asked for so here it is. You can compare up to 4 phones at once in a side-by-side comparison of features and specifications. We’ve tried to go into as much detail as possible allowing you to compare the small details such as which audio formats the phone plays as well. To select phones for comparison either go to the Phone Finder or go directly to the Compare Phones

3 Mobile Direct Shop

We’ve now added our latest phone deals feed from 3 Mobile. You can now search for deals that can be purchased directly from the 3 Store. Over the next month we will be adding more direct to network shops such as Vodafone and Orange.

Have a look around and let us know what you think!
