Is This The Perfect Mobile Phone?
This is the 01 phone. The front of the sleekly curved device is a full multi-touch screen, underneath which is a multi-function QWERTY keyboard which uses laser technology to change interface depending on the phone’s current function.
The back of the phone is metallic, smooth edges and an imposing black strip along the centre make it look more like the brake pedal in a luxury sports car rather than a mobile phone. The lens below this is a five megapixel auto-focus camera, all very impressive.
More details follow…
However, that black strip along the back is far more than a badger-inspired fashion statement. This segment can be detached from the 01’s body, acting as a mini-phone in the vein of the Bluetooth Prada Link watch unveiled earlier in the week. Messages, contacts, all are accessible quickly and easily from this independent device.
Underneath the slide-out keyboard? Wireless headphones. They are the kind that pop in your ear and feel like a spy, due to clever ergonomic design.
True perfection, elegance and cutting-edge technology in a single device. Does the 01 sound too good to be true? That’s because it is.
The brainchiild of gadget purveyors T3 in conjunction with design aficionados The Alloy, the 01 is the product of their frustration at the relative lack of aesthetic innovation and technological advancement in the mobile phone industry.
“Consumers deserve better mobile phones than what’s available currently, and as all the technology we’ve featured in the 01 Phone is possible, we don’t see why manufacturers can’t build something similar,” said Katherine Hannaford from T3.com.
Not really past the ‘Photoshop’ stage, the 01 is the combination of a phone, a games machine, a camera, GPS and web browser in a single device. Sounds familiar…
Apparently The Alloy is hard at work on a working prototype, so they are serious about attempting to bring this device to market, or at least garnering lots of press in the process! join the petition to get it made and give away your personal details on the official 01 Phone site here.
Does look mighty fine though…I signed the petition on the off-chance they get it made!
