Nokia have released a firmware update for the Nokia N95. It will allow the user to play music for three hours longer, and load applications faster via “on demand-paging” which is used in desktop and laptop computers.

The Update ver. 20.0.15’s main improvements are on the battery, performance and application stability. It addresses these issues well and users who upgrade will notice the change. However this change will not be available for all handsets, as owners with branded handsets will have to wait for their respective manufacturers to test the new firmware and add their usual branding and modifications.

The new applications will allow users to re-arrange the menu layouts, thanks to the new “Menu Structure app”. With the battery usage updates the Nokia N95 now sports an impressive 12 hours of music playback over the previous 9 hours. The Maps Application has been updated (Nokia Maps 1.0), the music shop application has been added, so now more phones can make use of the new music store. Video ringtones have now been added, on top of the MP3 and AAC formats previously available.

“After updating your device software to 20.0.015, and restoring your personal data, you can optimise the menu layout by installing the New_Menu_Structure.SIS file. Download and install this file to rearrange your menu layout specifically for SW 20.0.015. Reboot your device to see the menu changes.”
