Samsung Primera Gets A Name Change, Now Innov8

By Ernest Doku

Besuited Exec : I have a brilliant idea for how to synergize this addition to the Samsung lineup with a name that targets the dynamism, the innovation, and the 8-megapixel camera that the i8510 has.

James : What’s that?

Besuited Exec : Let’s call it….the Samsung INNOV8.

James : You what, mate?

Besuited Exec : It says it all in a brilliant single word! It encapsulates all of the facets which exemplify the brilliance of Samsung brand, the height of multimedia functionality combined with the best cameraphone on the market. Brilliant.

James : Yeah, but that’s a rubbish name. What was wrong with Primera?

Besuited Exec : It doesn’t have the drive, the kinetic motion, the vision that ‘INNOV8′ has. Plus it makes my job of marketing it much easier… And yes, it will be in capitals every time.

James : But you just put the number ‘8′ at the end. That’s poor. And it’s been done before.

Besuited Exec : If by “poor,” you mean “easy to remember, easy to sell, easy to say and easier to understand than Primera” then yes, yes it is.

James : I hate you.

Besuited Exec : Enough, on with the lifestyle photography featuring genetically perfect specimens indulging in whichever activities our focus group have deemed “cool” this quarter! Right now, the hot things are Child Robots and Sony Whee, let’s make it happen!

James : Kid Robot is a brand of clothing, and are you talking about the Nintendo Wii perchance? Oh, and I hate you.

Besuited Exec : Whee!!!

It’s 8 megapixel, will come in 8GB and 16GB versions depending on your mood, and also has other stuff which is probably quite innovative. Sigh. Check out this hands-on vid from Mobile Burn for a good idea of the capabilities. Sorry for our loss of interest in a great phone, we’re just cut up about the terrible name.

Aspirational lifestyle photography and Primer INNOV8 imagery courtesy of GSMArena follows!

There are no words, only painfully contrived photos. She’s no Wii Fit girl, that’s for sure.
