IntelliScreen = iPhone Widgets

By Ernest Doku

Yes, it’s another iPhone app for those jailbreakers. It’s common knowledge that for every indispensible iPhone add-on, there are approximately a bajillion that are pointless and are instantly banished into the ether. However, this clever piece of software from Intelliborn is one of the few genuinely useful ones…

The IntelliScreen adds various data on the otherwise barren “Slide To Unlock” screen including SMS messages, weather reports, calendar events and a variety of RSS news feeds.

The app allows for practically full customisation, with the number of widgets, the order in which they are placed, even the frequency with which feeds are refreshed all completely variable. Smooth scrolling is also available within each mini-screen, so all news headlines or email headings can be sifted though quickly and easily.

They are a fairly long way down the line with this app, currently on Beta release 0.95. The upshot of this is that the software integrates really nicely, with a horizontal sweep across the widget providing a jump to the relevant article on Safari if a news piece, or to the relevant screen of a native iPhone application.

The screen can look a bit cluttered if you are overzealous in your widget selection, and it is still a beta and thus prone to the occasional tantrum, but it is definitely in the upper echelon of third party add-ons, illustrating just how professional (and practical) some of them can be. Have at you, Asus Today!

Installer is your port of call for this app, and add the source below to get it in your phone!
